A woman is serving tea to the guard

I received a post card from a friend
And on one side, it read
You Can Tell I’m British Because –
I couldn’t wait to see what it said –

There were eight little pictures
And underneath each one
Was written a short sentence.
So, I put the kettle on

And studied it, over a cup of tea.
I LIVE IN THE PAST. Yes.
I admit that could be me
Though only sometimes I have to confess.

Number 2 was definitely me.
I DON’T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK>
But number 5 isn’t me.
I NEVER REFUSE A DRINK.

(The picture was a man with a drink
Leaning his elbow on a bar.)
Next – I’M LOST WITHOUT A DOG. No.
That’s 2 out of 4, so far.

I DON’T SPEAK A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
I did learn 2 in the past, I admit.
I sometimes say a word or two in Maori
Or in French, to show off a bit!

Another one – I’M NOT BOTHERED
ABOUT A BIT OF DUST.
I am not forever dusting
But I do it if I must!

I’M A DIFFERENT PERSON WHEN THE SUN’S OUT.
(I don’t know what is meant by that.)
All I do differently
Is wear a huge, white picture hat!

The last one I WOULDN’T LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE.
Well obviously that’s not true.
All my friends and family in England
Know very well that I do.
If I’m NOT British though. what am I?
Oh, dear. I only wish I knew!

Maybe I am a KIWI.
