Lots of my friends go on trips or a cruise.
They all send me postcards showing the views.
Those who ho still have husbands, time, health and cash
So they have nothing to lose by being a bit fresh.
Some often go in the winter. Why not?
They get two summers on the trot.
They use Facebook to share their snaps
Including oftentimes detailed maps.
My friends in the States usually go
To Alaska, bear hunting, in the snow.
To be honest, sometimes I get a bit jealous.
That’s one of the seven deadly sins, so they tell us!
Problem solved. This is now what I do
If ever I start to feel a bit blue,
I just go on Google and type the place name
Then press images – just like a game.
And I get lots of photographs, all crystal clear.
Okay, so there isn’t much atmosphere
But I don’t have to bring back a souvenir!
So, I’ve seen Polish salt mines, castles and caves,
Palaces, Roman walls, IronAge graves.
Though I realize I’ll never be able to swank
At least my money’s still there IN THE BANK!
