WHO WANTS TO BE TERRIFIED

Sheila Charles WHO WANTS TO BE TERRIFIED

A woman being scared of the phantom of the opera
A woman is frightened of the phantom of the opera

I wish Britain’s got Talent could be changed
So that more acts could take part
And there could be a lot less screaming and clapping.
Well that would be a start!

I now read while the show is on
And I regularly press MUTE.
That allows me to choose what I listen to –
Clever, talented or cute.

There is some amazing talent
But I also have to say
That I wonder how some acts ‘made it.’
But that’s just by the way.

There’s something else I’d like to mention.
Why do most people find
That being terrified is entertaining?
That really blows my mind.

The trouble is, there’s no warning
Until the act gets going.
It may begin quite innocuously
But it could change. There is no knowing!

If a weapon is produced –
Whatever that weapon might be,
Things are obviously going to get tense
Or so it seems to me.

Last night, someone wore a mask
So I decided no to look.
I immediately, well almost,
Immersed myself in my book.

Why can’t there be just singing and dancing
Music and comedy so
You won’t suddenly be terrified
At some point during the show?

They could produce another show later
Called WHO WANTS TO BE TERRIFIED.
And Britain’s Got Talent could revert
To being exclusively, a joy ride.
(I had enough fear on our overland trip.
I was perpetually petrified!!!)
