Sheila Charles YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK
My friend Jack decided
that he would write a book.
After he’d written each chapter
He asked me if I’d take a look.
the thing was, he’d been happily married
For almost the whole of his life
He’d helped produce three perfect children
And had a caring, doting wife.
He’d worked in the same office all his life.
Very commendable, we know that well,
But NO mistresses, NO anything.
What was there to tell?
With no plot, no peccadilloes
I doubt whether it would sell.
If we’re prepared to write our stories
For just family and friends to read
Then the chances are highly likely
That the book would meet a need.
take my friend Sue, for example –
her book may well succeed.
She’s travelled half-way round the world,
Lived in ten hours, been to seven schools.
Lived in four very different countries
And even broken some of the rules!
She has shaken hands with a princess
And been spoken to by the Queen.
She’s taught, so has had lots of challenges
(teachers will know what I mean!)
And I don’t imagine HER life
Has been completely squeaky clean.
Now, I reckon HER STORY
Would be great on a movie screen!
Maybe there’s also a chance for ME.
I have done that and been there.
On second thoughts, perhaps I won’t.
To be honest, I don’t think I’d dare.
Although these days where ANYTHING GOES,
Would anyone really care?
